Ever’man and WhiteWave to Host

Free Screenings of “GMO OMG” Film on April 13

PENSACOLA, Fla. (April 3, 2017) – Ever’man Cooperative has partnered with The WhiteWave Foods Company to sponsor and host two free screenings of GMO OMG, an award-winning documentary about genetically modified organisms. The screenings will take place Thursday, April 13. The first starts at 10:30 a.m. at the Pensacola State College (PSC) Hagler Auditorium (Building 2), followed by a noon reception. The second begins with a reception at 6:00 p.m. at the University of West Florida (UWF)  Commons Auditorium (Building 22), followed by the free screening at 6:30 p.m.

“WhiteWave strongly supports transparency in labeling and the right for people to know what’s in their food. We’re proud to have sponsored the making of GMO OMG and we’re thrilled to be partnering with Ever’man Cooperative Grocery to help bring more awareness to the important issue of how our food is produced,”   said WhiteWave Foods VP Government and Industry Relations Kelly Shea.

The free screenings are part of Ever’man’s Anniversary Week (April 12–18), an annual week-long celebration designed to thank the community, customers and members for their support of the co-op’s growth and expansion over the years. Special guest Kelly Miles, Purchasing Programs Support Senior Manager for the National Cooperative Grocers in St. Paul Minnesota, will introduce the groundbreaking film and be available to answer questions.

“Ever’man has long been a local leader in educating the public about GMOs’ impact on our health and the environment and in offering whole, organic, minimally processed non-GMO alternatives to conventional foods. We are proud to help bring attention to this issue because people deserve to know what they are eating,” said General Manager William Rolfs.

GMO OMG is directed by Jeremy Seifert, a concerned father of three who travels the world to explore how GMOs affect our food, our health and the planet. Learn more and watch a trailer at gmofilm.com.

“Everyone has to think about GMOs because we’re all eating them,” said Seifert. “The question of safety and health in a food market based on chemically-laden GMOs is a serious one, but the question of who controls our food is equally important.”
